Rahila P. Gowon

Rahila P. Gowon is an educationist, a lecturer, and an activist. She had her primary school at Agapalawa Primary School in Bornu State and her secondary school at Federal Government Girls’ College, Owerri in Imo State. Her university education for her first, second, and third degrees were all in the University of Jos with a B. A (Ed) in English Education, M.Ed in English Education and another M.Ed in Guidance and Counselling. She also attended short training courses in Entrepreneurship Education and Higher Educational Administration at Robert Gordon University, Essex University, and Oxford University, all in the United Kingdom.

Rahila P. Gowon is a Professor of English Education with a specialisation in Literacy and Communication skills. Her other areas of research include Entrepreneurship Education and Gender Studies. She teaches and supervises students’ projects, theses, and dissertations at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Rahila Gowon has been a member and chairman (chairperson) of some tertiary education and also a member and leader of various accreditation and visitation panels in tertiary institutions in the country.

She is actively involved in community development with NGOs and CBOs and is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor ( Academic), University of Jos.
