ALHAJI GAMBO DORI
I am an administrator who has served in different managerial capacities at the state and national levels. After graduation, I joined the Chad Basin Development Authority as an administrative officer in 1977. I transferred my services to the Borno State Civil Service in 1986 and was appointed permanent secretary the following year. Throughout my stay in the Borno State Government, I routinely served as the Chief Speech Writer to the governors. I moved to the Federal Civil Service in 1999 and was posted to the Presidential Villa, Abuja. I served in various parts of the Villa, during the tenures of three presidents, till I retired in 2010.
During my public service career, I served at various times as:
- Assistant General Manager (Admin), Chad Basin Development Authority. Maiduguri.
- Permanent Secretary, Government House, Maiduguri, Borno State.
- Director, Office of the Vice-President, State House, Abuja.
- Secretary/Director of Admin (SDA), National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.
- Director, Office of the Principal Secretary to the President and Permanent Secretary, State House, Abuja.
I was born in Fezzan Ward, Maiduguri, and attended primary schools there. I am an alumnus of Government College Keffi, School of Business, ABU, Zaria (BSc Bus Admin 1976) and University College Swansea, University of Wales, UK (MSc Econs 1981). I have attended numerous short courses and training programs around the country and in the UK, China, and South Africa.
I am now a researcher/ writer. In addition to other writing engagements, I run a weekly column in the Daily Trust Newspaper.
